I was stumbling around and found this art piece video called titled Doll Face. I found it very intruguing though kind of gloomy. I’m not entirely sure what creator Andy Huang was trying to say to us. Maybe it was about the pressure to be something you’re not. You watch and decide.

CSS Superdouche is a handly little tool to well, clean up your sloppy CSS files. A friend referred me to this the other day, and I’ve been using it ever since.
It’s basically a web app where you enter the URL to your CSS file, select from a few options like “remove all whitespace, indent CSS, & newline before opening brace”, the click the submit button to have it grab your CSS and pretty it up. It’s that simple.

My co-worker Matt found this cool website the other day that sells gourmet coffee. You see I mentioned the website before the coffee because well, the site is really nicely done and that was the initial draw. The red and black and gold is very dramatic. We had never heard of Gorilla Coffee before but heck, the packaging was so nice we just had to get some.

We’ve been having a lot of discussion lately about a re-branding strategy for our company. I’ve also been involved in quite a few other re-branding efforts of late and it’s mind-numbing just how little some people think it through. My group is actually going through a serious process of defining our company and our brand, but I think a lot of people just fling darts at a board until something sticks.

Lauren pointed me to this letter today by an unknown author. It’s a really clever metaphor for how clients perceive website designers and developers. There is still some kind of mindset that either causes them to devalue our time, our processes and ultimately our expertise.
It’s a constant battle trying to educate the clients and manage their expectations, and to ultimately deliver a quality product when we’re faced with expectations not so much unlike these.

Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.

Another good read by Mindy Wagner over at Web Designer Depot on mood boards for web projects..
- #As the ubiquitous (and crappy) IE browser begins to wane in popularity, it's increasingly more important for developers to focus on cross-browser development. "Works on my machine" just isn't a suitable answer anymore folks.
- #Wow. I'm amazed at the "process" the SDSU logo designers had to endure and just how little they were paid to deal with it. A designer's nightmare for sure.
- #I always wondered, but now I have confirmation that baking is gay.
- #Who knew the history of the "Honka Hoota" bike horn was so compelling? Those Australian synthetic material trees must have been a godsend...
- #I don't know what the point is or why I even found it noteworthy... maybe it's all the hoopla around the cheese carving or maybe it's just the dork that's carving it up. Is it art? I guess. Either way, it was an interesting way to kill a couple of minutes. Watch the video.
- #Sadly, Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch passed away this week. If you haven't already watched his "Last Lecture" you're missing out. I would definitely recommend taking the time out to watch the video or maybe buy the book. It's great stuff.
- #Who would have thought you could have so much mindless fun playing with a spider? I'm so easily entertained some days...
